Count Chocula, Frankenberry, BooBerry Monster Breakfast Cereal

Count Chocula, Frankenberry, BooBerry Breakfast Cereal

The monster cereals are a line of breakfast cereals produced by General Mills Corporation in North America.

The line was introduced in 1971, and at various times has included five brands, each featuring a cartoon version of a

classic movie monster: Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo Berry (all still produced seasonally)

Count Chocula and Franken Berry were inspired by classic horror film vampires and the Frankenstein monster.

Yet in early commercials, the cereal monsters were nervous nellies — often quickly becoming afraid of just about everything.

Artist George Carn drew the first images of Count Chocula (he also designed the Trix Rabbit).

Both the original Count Chocula and Frankenberry characters would often argue over who’s cereal was the best!

Count Chocula was of course, chocolate flavored.

Frankenberry was strawberry flavored.

Boo Berry is reportedly the very first blueberry flavored cereal.

Fruit Brute was discontinued by 1982 and replaced in 1987 by Fruity Yummy Mummy
