G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero was a 95-episode animated series, produced by Marvel Productions and Sunbow Productions to follow the success of the toyline by Hasbro. The cartoon ran in syndication from 1983 to 1986. Included a short public service announcement cartoon at the end of every episode, in which a few of the G.I. Joes would instruct children on good behavior or how to be safe. They ended with the catch-phrase: … And knowing is half the battle! Because the show was a regulated children’s show, the characters could not use real firearms and nobody could ever die on screen.  They used laser guns instead of standard military weapons. The G.I. Joe team fought the fictional Cobra as their main villain.
