This animatronic toy bear’s eyes and mouth would move as he read you a story, which actually came from an audio cassette tape deck that was built into his back. Teddy Ruxpin was the bestselling toy for both 1985 and 1986. This clever toy was first produced in 1985 by a company called Worlds Of Wonder. Many kids quickly figured out that they could put a standard audio tape in Teddy Ruxpin and he would talk along with it as well. This lead to many pranks by older kids and teenagers making Teddy Ruxpin sing along to their rock music tapes. While Teddy Ruxpin was extremely successful during the 1980s, it seemed many kids either loved it or were creeped out by it. There is still a version of Teddy Ruxpin being manufactured today.
